 There are living presences in the land that we can identify from place-based mythology, deep connection, or our own intuition~! The genius loci, ancestors, or earth spirits that we encounter have been there for millennia, and by building a labyrinth a new relationship with the numina of place is established. Creating labyrinths with branches or stones delineates a sanctuary or sacred zone for contemplation, and the “axis mundi” experience of being at the center, attuned to the four directions and the energy of the ley lines embedded in the land. Labyrinths mark ritual space, and cyclical offerings or "deep time" listening are all ways to open communication with this sacred site and its luminous living presence. Integrating the ancestral wisdom of labyrinths into our daily lives is a powerful affirmation of the blessings that are both given and received in Earth Community~!
