METAMORPHOSIS ~ AZUL THOME

MetamOrphOsis

Creating these 13 Oracles felt less like making a project and more like carrying something alive. At times it felt like being pregnant with thirteen different beings, each with its own rhythmic sound, its own demands, its own timing.  The process brought me into depths I didn’t expect, like diving again and again below the surface, staying long enough for something to reveal itself.  Not always comfortable, often intense, sometimes overwhelming, and full of awe.  Maybe this is what soul feels like, a movement towards the animate, towards what insists on being alive through us. The book and the Oracles are now ready for printing. I’m still in wonder that they exist through my body.

Oracle 3 — The Council of All Beings
Many voices live within and around us, human and more-than-human, ancient and emerging. The Council of All Beings invites you to listen beyond the limits of your own story, to remember that belonging is woven through relationship, and that home exists within the great web of life.

• What voice is seeking to be amplified through me?
• Who or what am I being invited to listen to more deeply?
• How can I offer my body as a vessel for another story?

Oracle 4 — Seeing with New Eyes
There is a way of seeing that does not depend on light, a way of perceiving that listens, that moves quietly through the dark, like the owl who trusts the night. Seeing with New Eyes invites you to widen your perception, to remember that you are more than human, part of a vast breathing web of awareness.

• What do I see when I look within?
• When was the last time I flew in the dark?
• What is the owl teaching me about my way of         seeing?

Oracle 5 — New Leaf
Imagine waking up one day and noticing a leaf growing from you. Not metaphorically neat. Not spiritual decoration. A real, inconvenient, slightly embarrassing leaf. New Leaf asks what happens when something alive begins to grow beyond the story you have about yourself. Do you cut it off because it doesn’t fit who you think you are, or do you stay curious long enough to see what it wants to become?
Sometimes transformation begins as something small that refuses to disappear.
• What part of me is beginning to grow a new leaf?
• Where am I invited to soften my sense of identity?
• What does belonging to the forest mean to me?

We live in what we pridefully call civilization, but our laws and machines have taken on a live of their own; they stand against our spiritual and physical survival.
    ERIC WOLF

"We cannot surrender to the doomsday narrative that haunts us because
    it serves to make us
give up on our dreams, and within our dreams
    lie the memories of
    the Earth and
    our ancestors."

    Ancestral Future
The earth is a generous mother, but she
    demands respectful children.

    TIBETAN PROVERB

If  what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
    you are surely lost.
    Stand still.
    The forest knows
    where you are.
    You must let
    it find you
    .

    DAVID WAGONER

When the ancient seers looked upon the world, what did they see?
    They saw magic....
    It is not so much
the Birch Tree  that is important as it is....
seeing the magic in the Birch, its soul qualities.
